INTRODUCTION:Internet Marketing

If you own a business you’re probably always trying to find ways to improve your internet marketing.  This can be complicated as the information available online is complicated and confusing.  But it really doesn’t have to be all the difficult to understand.  Here are 8 steps to help improve your performance online.

  1. Have a great website that is up to the current design standards.  If you learn how to use WordPress you can build your own website.  Have a pro help if you can afford it as it takes a lot of skill to be successful.

  2. The site should be optimized for search engines so it can be easily understood.  WordPress has plugins that help you such as the Yoast SEO plugin.  You can enter in your keyword and the plugin will display a red, yellow, or green light depending on how well it's optimized

  3. Identify your target market by developing a buyer persona.  There are highly descriptive fictional characters that represent your ideal buyer.  You can download your guide here.

  4. Create great content your buyer personas are looking for to answer their questions and solve their problems.  These are blog posts that are optimized for keyword topics using the Yoast plugin.

  5. Get your content shared over social media to attract new visitors.  Make sure you follow the cocktail party rule that says you share other information more than your own.  At least a 10 to 1 ratio of others vs your own.

  6. Create an offer with a landing page so that you get leads (contacts).  An offer is a downloadable PDF of information that is valuable to visitors on your website.  When they download via a landing page then they give you their email which creates a lead.

  7. Nurture those leads via email marketing or social media nurturing.

  8. Give great service to your customers so they become promoters.

In the online marketing world things have changed quite a bit over the last few years, and for the better.  It used to be that you needed someone who is fairly adept at complicated services like SEO to get lots of traffic to your website.  Well the good news is that search engines have gotten smarter and it doesn’t take that much technical skill anymore.

We spend more time thinking about optimizing for our customer experience than we do for search engines.  By shifting your thinking this way will free your mind to create better information that will get shared.
