These days we are all looking for ways to save money in business.  Cutting corners when it comes to internet marketing is always a bad idea.  Your website is the most important aspect of your internet marketing efforts and cheap web design with actually hurt your business and brand.

I did a Google search for "cheap web design" and a number of providers popped up.  The problem I see all the time for this kind of service is a simple website is provided.  These websites won't do much for your internet marketing efforts and you might as well just not have a website.

To build an effective website for marketing your business takes a highly skilled firm experienced in the latest design standards, SEO, and inbound marketing principals.

Here are some reasons for investing in a high quality website:

  • The website is appealing for the first time visitor
  • It has SEO built into the site for better search engine results
  • You can easily create great content that answer your customer's questions online
  • You can track the traffic to your campaigns and make necessary adjustments

Here's a website that is broadcasting cheap websites.  What do you thinnk?

Can you see the obvious issues?  Other than saying cheap website design and some pretty blatant stabs at bad SEO, it's just a bunch of text.  There just isn't anything right about this design.

Here's an example of good web design:

Now we're getting somewhere.  What I like about this website is it's simple and easy to understand.  It has appropriate calls to action on what I'm supposed to do next.  (learn more or get in touch)

Good web design is just the first part of developing good marketing.  Once the website is built then your content needs to be optimized for search engines.  This is a process of making sure the website pages are easy for search engines to understand.  The rule of thumb is if it's hard for people to understand then it's hard for search engines.  Sounds simple right?  Yet people get this wrong a lot.

Now the website is complete then use it! Leaving a website to grow stale will cause the site to disappear over time.  Potential customers are online searching for answers to their questions.  We answer those questions by running inbound marketing campaigns.

CONCLUSION:

These days a cheap website will do more harm than good for your business.  If you don't have much of a budget then at least find a graphic designer that needs to build their portfolio.  Sometimes you get lucky and have good results.
