Internet Marketing for Your Business

After 9 years in business I've realized a few things when it comes to the ups and downs.  If you aren't using any internet marketing processes your business will suffer and not have as many opportunities for growth.

In our first year of designing websites it was comprised mostly of networking and referrals.  Building a local network is one of the best ways to get the easiest clients.  Going to Chamber meetings, BNI Groups, and lots of other groups can be really beneficial to growing your business.  The low hanging fruit is to be able to meet and establish a connection physically with another human being.  This works well for a some businesses and some never get past this process.

Recently I was asked why you shouldn't use Wix, Weebly or Squarespace to build your website. It seems like a pretty good deal as they sell you on the easy interface for dragging and dopping your content where you want it to go. It's cheap too, with low monthly fees. What they're not telling you is there are problems with this approach.

Over the years we've helped quite a few businesses move their websites off of these platforms. The simple reason was their experience wasn't very good and they ended up with a bad website.

INTRODUCTION:

If you own a business you’re probably always trying to find ways to improve your internet marketing.  This can be complicated as the information available online is complicated and confusing.  But it really doesn’t have to be all the difficult to understand.  Here are 8 steps to help improve your performance online.

  1. Have a great website that is up to the current design standards.  If you learn how to use WordPress you can build your own website.  Have a pro help if you can afford it as it takes a lot of skill to be successful.

  2. The site should be optimized for search engines so it can be easily understood.  WordPress has plugins that help you such as the Yoast SEO plugin.  You can enter in your keyword and the plugin will display a red, yellow, or green light depending on how well it's optimized
